How To Prepare Ragi Rotti:

  • Take ragi flour, rice flour, onion, green chillies and salt in a deep mixing bowl.
  • Add water little by little and knead it into a soft dough.  Take care not to add too much water or the dough will end up very sticky.
  • Place a polythene sheet (or banana leaf if you are using it) on top of a board or the kitchen counter top. Smear a little bit of oil on it.
  • Take a small orange-sized dough and place it on the polythene sheet and start pressing it with your fingers to make a thick even-sized circle.
  • Heat the tawa and add 1/2 tsp of oil on it and spread it evenly.  Take out the ragi rotti from the sheet very carefully and immediately place it on the tawa.  Drizzle some oil on it and let it cook for about a minute.
  • Flip the rotti and cook on the other side as well.
  • Ragi rotti is now ready to serve.  Enjoy with any chutney or pickle of your choice.
