Masala Aloo | Spicy Potato Masala

Aloo -- now, who doesn't love them? Masala aloo is a mouthwatering, delicious, flavorful dish served as an accompaniment or side to pulaos, roti or even rice.  Try out this fantastic aromatic dish.. it will leave you asking for more..

  • Baby potatoes - 500 gm
  • Kasoori methi - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt - As required
  • Garam masala - 1/4 tsp
  • Oil - 2 tbsp

For Marination Paste:

  • Onion – 1 medium (grate into a paste)
  • Ginger-garlic Paste – 1 tsp
  • Cumin/Jeera Powder – 1 tsp
  • Coriander/Dhaniya Powder - 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
  • Amchoor powder – 1/2 tsp

How To Prepare Spicy Potato Masala:

  • Boil the baby potatoes along with salt.
  • Prepare the marination paste – Mix well all the items listed under the “For marination” section along with salt into a paste using a little water and set aside for a few minutes.
  • Peel the potatoes and marinate them in the prepared paste for about 30 mins (the paste should cover the potatoes on all sides).
  • Heat oil in a kadai and add the marinated potatoes, kasuri methi, and the marination paste (if any is left) and saute for about 8 mins.
  • Add garam masala and mix well and saute for another 2-3 minutes.
  • Remove from fire and serve hot with rotis, parathas, pulaos or even rice.
