Paneer Paratha | Cottage Cheese Stuffed Flatbread

Paneer Paratha - a popular Punjabi dish - is a delicious and healthy Indian flatbread filled with spiced paneer.  It is easy to prepare and can be had at any time of the day and is usually served with curd or any pickle.

Ingredients for the dough:

  • Wheat flour - 1 cup
  • Water

For the stuffing:

  • Paneer/cottage cheese - 100 gm
  • Green chilli - 1, finely chopped
  • Cumin/jeera seeds - 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Amchur/dry mango powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Salt - As required
  • Oil/ghee - for frying parathas

How To Prepare Paneer Paratha:

  • Make a smooth dough with the wheat flour by adding water little by little just as you make for rotis.  Knead it well, cover it and set aside for about half an hour.
  • Crumble the paneer with your hands, add all the spice powders, green chilli, jeera seeds, salt and mix everything well.  Stuffing is now ready.  Keep it aside.
  • Now make 4 equal sized balls out of the dough.
  • Roll out a ball of dough into a small round.  Place 1 tbsp of the paneer stuffing on the round, carefully gather and close it from all sides.
  • Now dust wheat flour on the rolling board and roll out the stuffed paratha gently.
  • Heat a tava and fry the paratha on it with oil or ghee till it is evenly browned on both sides.
  • Repeat the same process for the rest of the dough.
  • Serve the paneer paratha hot with curd or any pickle of your choice.
